Don't Look Now

This may be premature, but it looks like Butterfly is finally settling into a routine. For real this time. Introducing baby food has been the best thing for all of us. She now nurses, then eats baby food maybe an hour later, then takes a nap. The crying is so greatly reduced and my stress level is much lower too. Even better, she is sleeping in her crib at night! She goes right to sleep when I lay her down. However, during the day she is still in her car seat. It seems that it has to be dark for her to get the message to sleep in her crib. So for now we're still rocking the car seat. I just buckle the top part so she can't do something crazy like turn over or fall out. Also, and this will sound bad, but I stick her in my closet. It is dark and quiet in there and she sleeps for a good hour and a half. Again, I think the darkness is her cue to sleep. So I have no idea what we will do when she is truly too big for the car seat. But I'm not worrying about that now.

Now that I've posted this, she is sure to do a complete turnaround and wail for 24 hours straight.

  1. That settles it - I'm putting Bun ion my closet ;) He still won't nap and he hates baby food. He is an enigma, this kid!

  2. I meant "Bun IN my closet"

With the typo it looks like I wrote "bunion." I am so tired!

  3. Two words: blackout curtains. I have had them in all the kids rooms since day 1. I won't attempt nap time without them!

  4. Good news with your baby. :) This means that you get a semblance of sleeping through a part of the night, right? That's always a good thing. ;)

One of the children loved the dark, while another woke up every night around 10PM tp play for 4 hours...He never slept well at night. Children are always unpredictable, aren't they?

{raises coffee mug} To all their silliness, quirkiness and surprises!

  5. I second the comment by alli. I have room darkening blinds inall of my kids rooms. They go to bed around 7:30-8 almost every night and as it is summer - it is still daylight here. Mia, (my youngest) 8 months old, takes 2 naps a day. 1, is 1 1/2 hours the second is around 2-3. So, I am all for room darkening. Then you don't have to worry about the possibility that she might hurt herself with just the top strap of her seatbelt buckled.

God's blessings to you this day,
    Heather

  6. LOL about the closet! Whatever works! We put my cousin's DD in the closet on a vacation so she would sleep :)

    Congrats on sleep!
